Lesson:
I do this lesson over two days. The first day I ask why do people who care about your education decide that you will study a language for four years minimum and why French? I have them brainstorm in groups and then choose to write one or two ideas on the board per group.
On the second day, we watched the first video about studying French from an American perspective with pencils in our hands (so they can record notes). Then they talk about what they learned. Then we watch the second video about studying French but since it in French, we are only reading and then record their new knowledge/thoughts.
After, we find French in our pencil boxes and then on our clothes. It is to great surprise that there is French on every object.
The homework that day is to find French in their homes (not a school supply or clothing item) OR something that represents French culture.
