French Weather Phrases

I started off by showing this French video about weather so students could hear a Francophone speaking.  Then we folded lined paper into 6 squares so they could copy the images and write the phrases needed to play the weather dice game in French.

(I turn the game competitive with two versus two students.  One student from team 1 tosses the die, the teammate says what is on the die.  If team 2 agrees the student is correct, team 1 get a point.  Since we just learned the vocabulary, I leave the phrases on the board.  I let the students mange themselves regarding if they can look or not).

The next French worksheet on weather is great.  I went over the answers for the cities of Lille and Strasbourg. Also I shared the meaning of vrai (true) and faux (false).

I then show this video with a Francophone speaker.  She teaches the weather expressions and then plays a game in the first half of her video.

The next game is an info gap game with one student knowing the weather in Canada and the other knowing the weather in France.  I give the instructions to everyone together and then quickly walk around to each group.

The final activity before we made our own videos in this online activity (with worksheet) where the students discover the weather in different cities in France.
