French Folk Dance

La guimbarde

This dance, also known as the “la guillade” or “l’eguillon,” is an old dance of the Limousin herdsmen who wanted to show their agility. It is executed with a stick (stick) of about 2 meters.

Translated from L’Amicale Laïque de Saint-Sornin-Lavolps

Lyrics for the song La guimbarde

This dance is very easy to teach.  I bought long rectangle scarves for the routine.  The only changes I made to the choreography is during the third action, instead of turning for 8 counts, we turned in for 4 counts and then out for 4 counts.
